Cephalometric X-Ray

Debonding

The removal of your fixed orthodontic brackets.

Emergencies

Emergencies do not occur very often, but if they do, our team will respond quickly to provide advice and schedule a repair appointment.

Extractions

Removal of impacted or problematic teeth to make the space necessary for orthodontic treatment.

Impressions

The first step is making a model of your teeth. This process requires you to bite into a container filled with a rubber-type material. That material hardens to produce a mold of your teeth. This technique is rarely used in our practice because we use digital 3D models provided by our iTero digital scanner.

Interceptive Treatment

Treatment that can be done on growing children usually between the ages of 7 and 10. Interceptive or phase I treatment seeks to treat a problem before it becomes a more complex condition.

Interproximal Reduction (IPR)

This treatment creates additional space to allow for the ideal tooth alignment by removing a small amount of enamel tooth surface located between two adjacent teeth. This treatment is also referred to as slenderizing, stripping, enamel reduction, or reproximation.

Oral Hygiene

This term includes all of the actions you take to prevent plaque from living and reproducing on your teeth and mouth. It can include effective brushing and flossing in addition to regular dentist appointments for check-ups and professional cleanings.

Orthodontic Adjustment

This is an appointment where Dr. Terrana evaluates your progress and changes your wires to keep your treatment on the planned path.

Orthodontic Photographs

Photos were taken before, during, and after orthodontic treatment to monitor and document the progress of a patient.

Orthodontic Records

These records normally include cephalometric and panoramic x-rays, digital photos, and study models to allow Dr. Terrana to properly diagnose a patient and develop a treatment plan.

Panoramic X-Ray

A rotating machine takes a picture of your teeth and jaws while rotating around your head. This is used by your orthodontist to diagnose a patient.

Surgery

Orthognathic surgery is a type of procedure that is performed to adjust the jaws into their correct positions. This surgery can be performed to increase functionality, aesthetics, and/or overall health. Jaw surgery is normally performed as a treatment that is complimentary to orthodontic treatment which realigns the teeth.

Two-Phase Treatment

Two-phase or interceptive orthodontic treatment is a process that takes into account jaw and facial changes in addition to tooth alignment. The main reason for recommending two-phase treatment is to capitalize the flexibility of a growing jaw and mouth to achieve the best overall result while preventing more invasive treatments.

Wax

An orthodontic wax that is used to prevent irritation to your lips and cheeks caused by the metal and wires on your braces, you can use this as needed while undergoing treatment.
