Made of silk and other woven fabric, the backside is white with a floral pattern while the front is white with embroidered lotus leaves and bud. Uchishiki is mainly used by followers of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism on the upper table (Maejyoku) and the front table (Uwajyoku) in the Buddhist altar during events such as New Year's Day,
