Search strategy and study selection A systematic search was conducted up to November 2022 in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines (PRISMA), to identify original studies from the PubMed database (PubMed, 2006) investigating GSH levels in (i) brain in vivo, using proton MRS ( 1 H-MRS) of healthy adults, or ex vivo biochemical analyses of autopsy tissue from people without neurological or psychiatric conditions in life, and/or (ii) blood from healthy adults using biochemical analyses of the fluid component (i.e., plasma or serum)
