These individuals include: Allergy or hypersensitivity to GLP-1 medications Type 1 diabetes Pancreatitis Gastroparesis Medullary thyroid cancer Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 or family history of these conditions Pregnant, nursing, or trying to become pregnant Individuals with renal impairment Active eating disorder or history of disordered eating As always, the decision to use GLP-1s should be made in consultation with a healthcare professional who can assess an individual's medical history and overall health to determine if the medication is suitable for them
