SS Islander, 1898. Buildings; Living Conditions Photograph of First Nations manThe S. S. Islander docked in Seattle most likely the boat that George Brownlee brought on his trip to the Klondike in 1898. The Islander struck an iceberg on August 14th, 1901 and sank off Douglas Island with the loss of some crew, passenger and captain. The image is poor quality with a flare at the bottom center. The inscription is in George Brownlee's handwriting. Inscription verso: S. S. Islander
